Two days ago we visited schools and some families in poverty. Never in my life have I ever felt so amazing when literally 100's of children clamored to touch you and shake your hand. The children sang for us and it was magical...in Africa, standing on their school grounds listening to them sing their songs. I have to keep pinching myself to make sure it's all real!
Yesterday we visited a Baby Home for a couple hours, holding infants and playing with the young children who could just not get enough attention from any of us; heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. We also had lunch with an elderly group that was honoring a man that was 99 years young. We were treated like kinds and queens. Today we met with the leadership of one of the missions we are visiting and discussed strategies and approaches. The young people visited a high school and when we arrived to pick them up we found ourselves on stage with 100's of students wanting to hear us talk, etc. Yet another surreal experience along this amazing road.
Here's some shots...
Meeting some of the children supported by the GMO
Moments later when we were leaving I reached to shale the hand of one of these young people and was almost instantly swarmed by the entire group wanting to touch me. An interesting experience that I will never forget. The children in Kenya are so beautiful.
This women and her two girls were abandoned by the father. While they live in extreme poverty, their spirts are wonderfully positive.
Unbelievable children singing wonderful songs.
None of the girls are allowed to have long hair...actually any hair.
